Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, reiterated today his condemnation of Israel's genocidal bombings against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

More than 40,000 Palestinians dead, more than 92,000 wounded and almost 2 million displaced, there is no crime comparable to the genocidal bombings on Gaza, said the president on X.

Díaz-Canel condemned the Israeli offensive launched on October 7, 2023, which constitutes a violation of human rights.

The day that future generations will ask why we did not stop the Holocaust, we will not have a dignified and reasonable answer, the head of state added in his message.

The attacks against the Palestinian people have left a toll of 40,139 people up to this Monday, August 19, 40 of them on the last day, and 92,743 wounded, 134 in this week's bombings.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Cuba has shown its unwavering solidarity with Palestine and condemned the brutal aggression and genocide that the Occupying Power, Israel, is carrying out against the population in the Gaza Strip, through the murder of tens of thousands of innocent civilians and the destruction of hospitals, schools, mosques, among other infrastructures, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

Cuban government has repeatedly denounced the historical complicity of the United States by repeatedly using its right to veto to prevent the implementation of a ceasefire to stop the killing of innocent civilians.
