Cuban kids get ready for Caribbean Baseball Playoffs

Santa Clara, Cuba, Jun 3 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Little League Baseball champion team, who will represent the country in the Caribbean qualifiers in July, is satisfactorily completing their training phases, the head coach reported here on Friday.
Coach Idalberto Alvarez, from the Santa Clara team, Cuba’s champion, told Juan Reinaldo Perez, president of the Federation and the National Baseball Commission, that the team, made up of 11 and 12 year-olds, is in the seventh week of training.
He pointed out that the players have done physical and technical exercises, held practice games and have undergone a medical check-up in the last few hours and all of them show excellent health parameters.
For his part, pitcher and team captain William Alvarez said that he was proud of representing Cuba and of the victories achieved in the National Series and the practice games.
The Dominican Republic will host the Caribbean Little League Baseball Playoffs from July 5 to 10 at the RD Complex in Punta Cana, in La Altagracia province, with the participation of teams from Curacao, Aruba, Bahamas, US Virgin Islands, Cuba and the host team.
