HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 27 (ACN) “This vote is an act of reassertion and vindication of our sovereignty,” said Alpidio Alonso, Cuba's Minister of Culture, “and an autochthonous model of elections tailored to our needs and possibilities”.
Alonso described the voting as a form of civic responsibility leading up to the election of representatives of the people entrusted with the task of using local resources in support of economic, social and political activity at grassroots level.
He also stressed the responsibility of the municipal assembly regarding the approval of candidate members for the National Assembly of People's Power based on their merits and prestige.
Likewise, the Minister pointed out the need for unity between municipal delegates and State entities and mass organizations in order to make real changes at community level.
