Havana, Nov 12 (Prensa Latina) Accumulated rainfall in Cuba Thursday shows indicators exceeding historical average and are also favorable for both agriculture and water supply to the population, according to specialists.
'The humid period (May-October 2020) closed with a 1,47 mm accumulated rainfall, 115% of historical average for this period,' Argelio Fernandez, director of Hydrology and Hydrogeology of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH), told to Granma newspaper.
Argelio Fernandez said October closed at 140%, so it means some high humidity conditions, soil saturation, even filling of important reservoirs; and we must included the tropical storm Eta, which caused heavy rains over the country.
Matanzas and Artemisa provinces, as well as the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud had maximum accumulated rainfalls; while Guantanamo, Holguin and Santiago de Cuba had the minimum ones.
