Havana, June 26 (RHC)-- Cuban health authorities announced on Saturday 2 403 new infections of COVID-19 and 12 deaths.
In his national televised briefing, the National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported the alarming number of 11 100 positive patients admitted in the island´s hospitals. He noted there had been over 1400 confirmed cases over the last ten days.
He stressed the lethality of the new strains circulating on the island, and he warned that being outdoors without masks is extremely dangerous.
The Caribbean island now accumulates 179 655 infections and 1231 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic with the current update.
Camaguey province ranked first with the most cases, with 402, followed by Havana with 380, and Matanzas with 347.
