Cuba is ready to host the 10th International Convention on Physical Activity and Sports (Afide 2023), Dr. C. Mélix Ilisástigui told a press conference on Friday.

The director of Science and Technological Innovation at the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), reaffirmed that 340 Cuban delegates and representatives of 26 nations will participate in the event, which will take place at Havana’s International Conference Center from November 27 to 30.

At the meeting with journalists, held in the Assembly Hall of the Ciudad Deportiva coliseum, the official pointed out that several workshops and symposiums organized by the INDER, the Manuel Fajardo University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences, the Cuban Sports Research Center and Cubadeportes S.A. will be held during the event.

Under the slogan ‘Science to Win,’ this edition brings together researchers, coaches, academics, physiotherapists, psychologists and students of sport-related courses to discussing the advances and strategies in high-performance sports, physical recreation and applied sciences.

The meetings and presentations will focus on sports engineering, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, the application of sciences (biomechanical, physiological, psychological and social), training theory and methodology, information technology, communications and therapeutic and prophylactic physical activity, among others.

He said that several collateral activities will be held outside the meeting center, such as sportswear catwalks, simultaneous chess contests, galas and an aerobic festival, among others.
