The Cuba-Eurasian Economic Union Business Forum will open here on Tuesday with a focus on achieving the sustainability of the projects and the development of commercial economic relations.

The call for the meeting, which will take place at the Hotel Nacional, was circulated by the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and will be another space to strengthen ties between the Cuban business community and the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

In early May, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel participated in the Supreme Council for the tenth anniversary of that integrationist bloc, and ratified Cuba’s will to enhance its participation in the development of the EEU mechanisms.

Díaz-Canel stressed the importance of economic, commercial, financial and cooperation relations with the EEU and its member states for Cuba, taking into account the historic relations that unite them.

During that meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the growth in the trade volume of the EEU is a sign of the effectiveness of the bloc in the light of the siege of sanctions, despite which the total Gross Domestic Product of the member countries of 1.6 trillion dollars to 2.5 trillion dollars.

The EEU is an international integration economic association that has been operating since January 1, 2015. Its participants are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Cuba has held the status of Observer State of the EEU since 2020 and since then has kept an intense work agenda.
