The hostility of the United States against Cuba reinforces the almost six decades-long siege, according to recent denounces made by Cuban authorities.

After the announcement by the Treasury Department against the Cuban entity Banco Financiero Internacional (BFI) (International Financial Bank), Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed the rejection of the punitive measure that further intensifies the blockade after a year of unprecedented pressure.

'The inclusion of entities in (the United States') lists aims at reinforcing an economic siege that has not been able to destroy the Cuban Revolution in 62 years,' the head of Foreign Relations tweeted.

This statement responds to the announcement made by the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, who reported on Friday the inclusion of BFI in the list of Cuban financial entities which Americans are prohibited from trading with.

The provision will become effective at the beginning of January after the publication of the updated version of the list that penalizes entities supposedly under the control of the Cuban Armed Forces, Pompeo said in a statement.

This adds yet another unilateral action to the sanctions implemented by Washington with the purpose of strangling the island's economy and forcing a regime change.
