Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree today for the celebration of the World Youth Festival in the city of Yekaterinburg, according to the Kremlin press service.

The statement released this Tuesday to the press indicates that, "with the aim of continuing to develop international cooperation among youth," the Russian president decided to convene and hold the World Youth Festival in September 2026 in the city of Yekaterinburg.

In 2024, the World Youth Festival was held in the Russian federal territory of Sirius, in the resort city of Sochi on the Black Sea. It was agreed at that meeting that the next main event would be in 2030.

According to the note from the Russian presidency, the 2026 Festival will be smaller in scale, with an expected participation of 10 thousand people. It was also stipulated that between the two main future events, thematic meetings with two thousand participants will be held annually in 2027, 2028, and 2029.
