Canadian Ambassador to Cuba John Geoffrey Gartshore concluded on Thursday a tour across sites of historical and tourist interest in the easternmost of Cuba's provinces, according to Venceremos newspaper.

The diplomat -alongside the embassy’s Political Section Head Elizabeth Utting- paid a visit to communities in the municipalities of Plan Turquino, Yateras, Baracoa and Imías, where both learned about cultural and historical traditions.

Gartshore was received by the Guantánamo Governor Alis Azahares Torreblanca who explained to him the cultural, historical, geographical and socioeconomic characteristics of the province as well as projects that respond to the local development strategy.

John Geoffrey Gartshore considered his visit as too positive and heaped praise on the authentic heritage and cultural values appreciated during his visit to Guantánamo.
