The old Villa de Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe, current Camagüey, is a unique city, very unique in the Ibero-American scene due to its architecture and its labyrinth-like layout. UNESCO distinguished these peculiarities with the declaration of the historic center in 2008 as Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The Office of the City Historian is one of the most active in the system of heritage cities in Cuba. Now it organizes the I International Workshop on Architecture, Design, and Urbanism, to be held on February 2-4 this year.

It will be one of the promotional actions of the traditional International Symposium on City Management and Management Challenges that is held in the city, and which will now encourage the participation of specialists, professionals and lovers of urbanism from various institutions around the world.

According to Prensa Latina, the workshop will have a purposeful essence, in addition to the nature of competition, with budgets that help the community of researchers and executors of the city for the intervention of core areas and sites throughout the province, but especially in the spaces most important for history and culture.

This type of event also pursues the best use of the cultural potential of the city of Camagüey, founded in 1514, and which is key to the tourist and therefore economic development of the country.

Head to head with the Arte Plaza Creative Industries project, the Historian's Office includes a creative circuit in the area declared a World Heritage Site.
