Road Town, BVI, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) The Prime Minister of the British Virgin Islands, Andrew A. Fahie, received the Cuban Medical Brigade this Saturday that will reinforce the local response against the new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic.

At Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport, Fahie welcomed the Cuban health contingent who, after the quarantine period, will support the efforts of the British overseas territory to contain the advance of the pathogen.

The Prime Minister thanked the Government of Cuba for this cooperation that he considers historical and remembers the ties of families from those islands that came to the largest of the Antilles.

As a sign of gratitude, the Airport of the British Caribbean territory raised the Cuban flag to receive the health brigade, which will provide its services for three months.

The 22 Cuban collaborators will strengthen the medical capacity of the Virgin Islands in order to keep the territory in a state of preparedness and mitigation before the scourge of Covid-19.

Currently, the British overseas territory is passing through phase One of the Controlled Border re-entry and the arrival of Cuban professionals is pertinent for the restart of commercial flights in the future.

Cuban health internationalists are currently strengthening the fight against Covid-19 in more than 35 nations in the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
