The first batch of Russian UAZ Patriot SUVs, assembled in Cuba, is now prepared for operation, according to an announcement today by the Russian Embassy in Havana.

The vehicles were assembled using complete knock-down (CKD) kits at a facility in the Caribbean nation and have been adapted to the region's climatic and road conditions. The embassy's statement did not disclose the specific location of the assembly plant or identify the recipient of the vehicles.

The announcement also noted that deliveries of the UAZ Pickup model will begin soon, with the production line expected to reach an annual capacity of 500 vehicles.

Large-scale assembly of these vehicles began in Cuba last April, coinciding with the visit of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko to Havana. During his trip, Chernyshenko attended the unveiling ceremony of the first UAZ SUV assembled on the island.
