Brazil: Hope is back

The people’s wisdom has won. The perspectives are actually promising after Lula’s rise to presidency and Brazilians could not ignore this fact, which would close them the door to hope and that wellbeing they all deserve.

The results of the second round of the elections confirmed this. With over 50% of the valid votes, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva returns to presidency, and with him, democracy and respect for human beings are both back to that nation.

Among the first leaders to greet the leader of the Workers' Party was the Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, who, via Twitter, congratulated him on behalf of the government and the people of Cuba.

“We celebrate your great victory in favor of unity, peace and Latin American and Caribbean integration. Always count on Cuba,” wrote Díaz-Canel. In other of his messages on that social network, he wrote “They delayed your victory with atrocious methods, but they could not prevent you from winning with the people's vote. The PT (Workers’ Party) returns, justice will return,” he highlighted.

Convinced of how much the victory of Lula da Silva means for Latin American integration, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCTP) also hailed Lula's victory as well as the democratic participation of the people Brazilian in the ballot this Sunday.

"Latin America and the Caribbean see with hope the participation of Brazil in the integration processes that cannot be postponed," the Alliance pointed out via Twitter.

The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, also addressed this thesis by assuring that with these presidential elections in Brazil, a new stage in the history of Latin America opens. In turn, AMLO, the Mexican president, stressed that there will be equality and humanism in Brazil.

There were many voices from all over the world that made themselves heard celebrating this electoral result, which the people of the South American giant also celebrated in style by crowding the streets, now with a renewed hope.

“We have a dream. We are moved by hope. And there is no greater strength than the hope of a people that feels that they can be happy again.” Lula has stated so at the presentation ceremony of the Let's Go Together for Brazil movement, on May 7, in Sao Paulo.

Yes, Brazilians knew they could be happy again, and they showed it at the polls.
