Acosta Danza will Celebrate its First Decade in Havana
especiales

Acosta Danza, the company directed by the celebrated first dancer Carlos Acosta, returns to one of its usual venues, the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater, with the season "A Decade in Motion," which celebrates its 10th anniversary. The program of performances—September 5, 6, and 7—includes highly relevant premieres and reruns that defend the diversity and aesthetic richness of the group's repertoire.
Among the new features is the Cuban premiere of 98 Days, by Spanish-Venezuelan choreographer Javier de Frutos, inspired by poet Federico García Lorca's stay on the island. The company will also present The Equation, one of the most recognized and celebrated works by Cuban choreographer Georges Céspedes, which is now part of Acosta Danza's repertoire.
The season will be completed with a rerun of Llamada, by Spanish choreographer Goyo Montero, and De punta a cabo, by Yaday Ponce, based on the original piece by Alexis Fernández, a work that was nominated in 2022 for the UK's Laurence Olivier Award, the highest performing arts honor in that country.
As an added attraction, audiences will be able to appreciate a completely renewed cast, made up of young graduates from the company's academy.
Since its founding in 2015, Acosta Danza, directed by first dancer Carlos Acosta, has championed contemporary, innovative art open to intercultural dialogue, becoming a platform for experimentation and exchange for Cuban and foreign artists. In its first decade of existence, the company has established itself as one of the main showcases for Cuban performing arts internationally.
