The holding in Cuba of the 14th edition of the International Event for Nature Tourism (Turnat 2024) is today an indispensable support for the purposes of developing this type of holiday on the island.

This meeting will take place from September 24 to 29  in the south east of this archipelago, a region blessed by nature and which in recent years has developed travel programs very much aimed at active rest.

In anticipation, Turnat attracts 130 tour operators, travel agents and specialized journalists from 20 nations, many of them familiar with the Cuban routes and repeat their presence in such a call.

This appointment is the baton of the travel agency Ecotur and the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) of this country, entities that follow very closely the trends in the Planet on nature trips, adventures and ruralities.

The general director of the Travel Agency Ecotur, Raul Naranjo, timely showed his satisfaction for the development of such modalities and the increase in requests for stays on this island by travelers from all over the world.

One of the specialists who is always present in Turnat is the president of the Association of Tourism and Conservation Consultants of Costa Rica, Ana Báez, convinced expert on these issues and that usually officiates an update talk at the meeting.

Another of the advisors and lecturer on various occasions is the Cuban Telmo Ledo, who has been many years scrutinizing the plans and places of best possibility for the realization of routes and excursions.

Cuba is a small country of just over 110 thousand square kilometers, and has six Biosphere Reserves, and six Ramsar Sites (highlighted wetlands). It also includes two World Natural Heritage sites and 14 Nature Parks, which supports the authorities' commitment to protecting the environment.

In particular the south east (Granma, Guantánamo and Santiago de Cuba) has many charms that will now be available to the attendees of Turnat.

Thus, the program includes 36 communities, 85 destinations (33 from Guantánamo, 32 from Santiago and 20 from Granma), and an ambitious plan.

Therefore, Turnat aims to highlight the unlimited possibilities on this island for nature trips, adventures and ruralities, something that the Mintur is responsible for promoting through its spearhead that is Ecotur, and the desire of human beings on the planet to be ever closer to their environment.
