Arlenis Sierra stands her ground in Giro d'Italia

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 6 (ACN) Cuban cyclist Arlenis Sierra kept her 24th place in the Giro d'Italia Donne after the sixth stage of the road race classic, crossing the finish line 38 seconds behind the Dutch Marianne Vos, multiple Olympic and world champion in road, track and cyclo-cross, who clocked 2:58:30 h to win the said leg.
Among the 127 who made it to the end of the stage, out of 132 who started the race, the Dutch Annemiek Van Vleuten, current Olympic and world champion and also member of Sierra’s Spanish team Movistar.
The Cuban has fulfilled her function of helping Van Vleuten keep the leader's pink jersey and Movistar its leadership, even if she finished sixth in one of the stages of this 1,004-km, 10-day-long race.
