Argentine trade union demands Cuba’s removal from US SSOT list

The Argentine Workers' Central Union (CTA) on Tuesday demanded Cuba's immediate removal from Washington's State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list.
 
Cuba was first included on that list by the US Department of State during the administration of then President Ronald Reagan in 1982, according to a press release issued by the labor group.

In 2015, then President Barack Obama considered that this designation had no merit in the case of Cuba and deleted the Caribbean island from the list.

President Donald Trump reinstated Cuba again in January 2021, a few days before leaving office, something that President Joe Biden has kept despite the claim to correct that position, the text added.

The Argentine trade union recalled that United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described this decision as contradictory.

For 31 years, the UN General Assembly has condemned the criminal blockade imposed by Washington on Cuba for more than six decades.
