Cubans and Argentinians on Tuesday commemorated the 70th anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, two events that marked the beginning of the struggle against the Fulgencio Batista (1901-1973) tyranny in Cuba.

The Argentinian Solidarity Movement, known as MasCuba, and the Association of Cuban Residents in Argentina recalled the actions conducted by young people led by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016), on July 26, 1953.

Those events marked the beginning of the last stage towards Cuba’s independence, MasCuba highlighted in a press release, and urged to support the initiative to take place in the premises of the Cuban Embassy in Buenos Aires on Tuesday.

The Cuban residents recalled that the meeting would demand the end of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on their homeland for more than six decades.

They will also demand Cuba’s removal from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list, unilaterally made by Washington.
