Angolans will pay posthumous tribute to former president Dos Santos

Luanda, Jul 11 (Prensa Latina) The emblematic Republic Square in Luanda will be the scene of the posthumous homage of the Angolan people to former president José Eduardo dos Santos.
The site will be open from 2:00 p.m. local time to receive all citizens who wish to pay tribute to the former statesman, who died on July 8th in Barcelona, Spain, after a prolonged illness.
“It is a moment of mourning for all of us. Therefore, we appeal to calm spirits, civic behavior, compliance with organizational rules,” said the spokeswoman for the commission in charge of the funeral, Minister Marcy Lopes.
According to the official announcement, the opening of the book of condolences in the Republic Square will be carried out by the highest representatives of the different state and government agencies in the morning hours on Monday.
After the death of Dos Santos, the Executive decreed seven days of National Mourning, starting at 00:00, local time, last Saturday.
The authorities ordered the creation of decent spaces in all the provinces, to receive the expressions of condolences from the people, who recognize the former president as the main architect of peace, after 27 years of civil war.
