The president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, participated this Saturday in the XXIV Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Treaty on Trade of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP), held in Venezuela on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the regional bloc by historical leaders Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro.

During his speech, Ortega highlighted the resilience of the Venezuelan people in the face of adversity. “Despite the sanctions, the attacks, and the defamations, this people of Venezuela is loyal to Chávez and loyal to Bolívar. How happy I was to find a genuine revolutionary in a military man like Commander Chávez!” exclaimed the Nicaraguan president.

The president also emphasized the importance of regional integration and the fundamental role that ALBA must continue to play. “The Bolivarian Alliance, born of an embrace, is and must remain a bloc that promotes and cares for integration in the region, especially at this global political juncture facing a deep crisis,” Ortega said.

Ortega also reaffirmed Nicaragua’s commitment to the fight against imperialism and the injustices that affect his country, as well as other ALBA members such as Venezuela and Cuba. “We will not fail them; we will not fail them, and we will continue to fight in ALBA,” he said, calling for unity and solidarity among the Latin American peoples.

The summit, which brings together leaders and representatives of several ALBA-TCP member countries, focused on strengthening cooperation and resistance to external aggression, reaffirming the legacy of its founders and their commitment to a future of justice and dignity for all peoples in the region.
