Santo Domingo, Jul 22 (Prensa Latina) Dominican poet and writer, Rafael Nino Feliz, has launched his essay "El bloqueo contra Cuba: ahora la gran guerra por otra via" (The Blockade Against Cuba: Now a Big War by Other Means) at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD). In his thesis, Feliz analyses the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba that has lasted more than 50 years and still persists despite the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Feliz describes Washington's strategic plans in the new political reality between the two nations and evokes the announcement by U.S. President, Barack Obama, that the blockade has failed and that the U.S. should use other ways to achieve its goals.
The essential and structural elements of the blockade, which have domestic and extraterritorial facets, will take many years to be eliminated or rendered ineffective, Feliz stated.
Only world opinion, the U.S. internal context, as well as international development agreements with countries not dependent on the U.S., will knock down one of the most shameful events of the history of humanity - the blockade on Cuba, the author said.
The launch of the essay "El bloqueo..." takes place only six days before the beginning of the 8th Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, to be held from July 27th to 30th at the headquarters of the UASD.
