The province of Holguin contributes to the strengthening of the National Electroenergetic System (SEN), through a group of actions to transfer loads to other areas of eastern Cuba.
Fabian Vega Genicio, director of the Electric Association in the territory informed the Provincial Defense Council that as part of these works, about 75 Megawatts (MW) are transferred to Santiago de Cuba that will make possible the start-up of the Antonio Maceo (Rente) Power Plant; 55 are delivered to Granma and eight to Las Tunas, with the aim of returning the service to key economic and social objectives in these territories.
He pointed out that the 220 kV Cueto-Santiago de Cuba and Cueto-Bayamo lines are being heated to achieve this purpose, and to a lesser extent to Las Tunas, which is connected through the Nuevitas Thermoelectric Plant in Camagüey.
Vega Genicio specified that rotations are carried out within the blocks to guarantee electric energy to as many clients as possible, protecting municipalities such as Banes and Calixto Garcia, the last ones to be shut down while the system was gradually recovering.
He also pointed out that the strategy is to maintain stability because although the SEN is strengthened with the synchronization of the Lidio Ramón Pérez de Felton Thermoelectric Plant, there are still very low frequencies that can compromise the work done.
The restoration of the service began in Holguin since yesterday afternoon with the contribution of 50 MW provided by the Diesel Engine Power Plant (Grupo Fuel) of Moa, through which the objectives of the economy and health were prioritized, the executive remarked.
