Dominican Soprano to Sing with Cuba's Symphony Orchestra
especiales
Haza will sing the pieces Tu voz, Al volver, Mi clave and Tropical, by Dominican composer Luis Rivera González, established in this island since the 1940s.
The repertoire of this singer, that has conquered audiences in the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Cuba, includes operettas, operas, requiems, symphonic poems, songs and hymns.
Dominican Rhapsody No. 1 for piano and orchestra, by Rivera González directed by maestro Enrique Pérez Mesa, will be premiered here. The Dominican composer worked with Cuban maestro Amadeo Roldán, directed important orchestras of that time and made sets for Ernesto Lecuona’s zarzuelas.
This presentation, also with the local pianist Víctor Díaz, will celebrate the Independence Day of the Dominican Republic and will close this country’s Week of Culture in Cuba that will last until February 27.
The week started with a tribute to Dominican singer Sonia Silvestre at Havana Historic Center’s Plaza Vieja and included visual arts exhibits and master conferences.
