The orchestra will stop over in Havana to continue afterwards their Adios tour, according to a press release of the Silvio Rodríguez Office.
These veteran musicians consecrated to traditional rhythms are the friends who will join the troubadour in his presentation number 70 through far away or less favored communities.
The location selected this time is the Jesús María neighborhood in Old Havana, one of the oldest and most populated zones of the Cuban capital city.
This “tour through the neighborhoods”, a dream the author of “Ojala” had to take art where is needed the most, started five years ago.
Together with Pablo Milanés, Noel Nicola and other guitar lovers, Silvio was part of the Nueva Trova Movement during the 1960s and his songs keep seducing the youngest ones.
Buena Vista Social Club is presently visiting Puerto Rico where they performed at the Coliseum Roberto Clemente.
The previous month, the orchestra and leading singer Omara Portuondo added recognition to their privileged musical career when they performed at the White House, being the first Cuban musical group to play there in the last half century.
The musical group already made concerts at Hollywood Bowl, Humphreys Concerts by the Bay, Denver Botanic Gardens and Rialto Center for the Arts, among others.
With the Adiós Tour started in 2014, the orchestra says good bye to stages, but we want our music to last in times and to keep enchanting everybody, as expressed Omara in Havana before starting their world tour.
