The WHO’s representative in Bolivia, Fernando Leanes, stated that the Cuban people should be proud of the humanitarian work its medical staff is doing in the Andean nation.

In statements to PL, amid the International Health Fair dedicated to Fidel Castro, Leanes highlighted the contribution of Cuba to the welfare of other states.

The initiative, launched on Sunday at Lauca neighborhood, is one of the several festivities to celebrate the Cuban leader birthday and the 191st anniversary of the Bolivian independence.

The initiative — which comes to an end tomorrow— is the result of the joint work carried out by both nations, confirmed the member of the PAHO.

Likewise, he praised Cuba’s implementation of the physicians and nursing program to assist families as model of primary health care.

It is a satisfaction for every Cuban to witness how such program is implemented in Bolivia. We are not only talking about the work of these physicians in this fair, but their work on daily basis.

He also pointed out that there are many Bolivian professionals who graduated from the Latin American School of Medicine, trained with similar ethic and humanitarian principles of Cuba’s physicians.
