Contrary to the claim of the general secretary of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, to invoke the Democratic Charter, the group agreed yesterday to support the talks involving the mediation of the former presidents of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernández; of Panama, Martín Torrijos and the former head of the Spanish government José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.

For Caracas and several Latin American political circles Almagro's attitude seems to hide an intention in view to fostering an intervention in Venezuela.

In her twitter account, the diplomat also congratulated the representative of Venezuela to the OAS, Ambassador Bernardo Álvarez, and the Venezuelan mission.

In the same way, she thanked the countries of the region supporting the rule of law in Venezuela, its full sovereignty and the constitutional democracy.

She said only the government of Paraguay withdrew from the consensus supporting the dialogue driven by Unasur.

In addition, Minister Rodriguez expressed that the victory in the continental body is a recognition of the constitutional government of President Nicolás Maduro and the democratic system of promotion of human rights.
