Wednesday afternoon university students, supporters, activists, families and other people will march from the presidential mansion Los Pinos to the Mexico City Zócalo to demand that  43 disappeared Ayotzinapa students be brought back alive.

The same day universities throughout Mexico are begining a 72-hour strike to demand justice for the students. The measure will start tonight a 7:00 p.m. local time and end on Friday.

A huge march will start out from the presidential mansion Los Pinos at 4:00 pm and end at the Mexico City downtown Zocalo, where parents and family members of the disappeared students will speak. The presidential palace is located at the Zocalo.

The student strike was decided on last November 2 when the Inter-university Assembly made a decision to paralyze activities at the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM9, the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM) and the Mexico City Autonomous University (UACM).

The disappearance of the 43 teacher training students has rocked the world, bringing the issue of police violence in Mexico to the fore. People in a number of countries are expected to take to the streets to demand the live return of the students.

This Tuesday, Mexico’s federal police arrested former Iguala Mayor Jose Luis Abarca, and his wife in a house in the southeastern Iztapalapa area of Mexico City due to their alleged implication in the disappearance of the students.

Mexico’s Attorney General Jesus Murillo Karam said that the ex mayor’s arrests should yield clues that will help federal authorities find the living Ayotzinaba students.
