Cuban President Denounces Economic Aggression against Venezuela

Venezuela is suffering today the highest expression of non-conventional warfare, an economic and financial blockade that will be victorious, President Miguel Diaz-Canel said.
The nation suffers a high-level aggression, but its people will resist and defeat, the president said during a press interview with multi-state Telesur channel.
Diaz-Canel also ratified his admiration for the Venezuelan people and government amid the attacks and reiterated Cuba's support for the Executive's management led by Nicolas Maduro.
About this issue, he recognized the South American head of State as 'a consistent leader, with a tremendous commitment to the legacy of Hugo Chavez,' one of the main figures in the history and politics of the region, he said.
'Venezuela with Chavez changed its dependent tradition due to its condition as a country with a natural wealth. He opened the horizons of a new nation,' he stated.
During the interview, the Cuban president recalled the ties between both countries in favor of the social benefit of the peoples, a relationship that spread throughout the continent.
Thanks to this friendship, millions of people had access to totally free education and health programs for the first time with the 'Yo si puedo' (Yes, I Do) programs, the Operation Miracle vision restoration program and other initiatives.
The regional unit was also strengthened with the setting up of multinational organizations such as the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), Petrocaribe or the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America- People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP).
