Holguin decathlete star Leonel Suarez Fajardo, is making encouraging progress in recovery, after four months from surgery in Havana.

At this time, advised by his coach Gabino Arzola and with the consent of doctors, Suarez is doing gentle runs that do not require great physical efforts and the response of the operated knee has been positive.

Leonel will not participate in the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico, in November. His competitive purpose is to attend the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, in 2015, without ruling out the World Championship.

Lidia Fajardo, mother of the best Cuban decathlete of all time, confirmed that his son has gained weight and muscle mass and is disciplined with recommendations made by his physicians. He remains optimistic for the future and is constantly monitored by the medical team of prestigious Dr. Rodrigo Alvarez Cambra.
