Cuba sent eight athletes to the Youth World Judo Championships to be held from October 22 to 26 in Fort Lauderdale, United States.

The island’s female team is headed by Gusmary Garcia (+78 kilograms) and Maylin del Toro (63 kilos), according to a report from the National Information Agency (AIN).

Adilaidis Lemus (57) and Nairelis Fuentes (70), both of them international debutantes, complete the girls selection.

In term of male athletes, two hopefuls are Magdiel Estrada and Ivan Silva (81), bronze-medal winner in the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing 2013.

The male squad includes also newcomers in international competitions, namely Alain Leilandy Bridges (60) and Camilo Gleydiel Hourrutunier (66).
