Cuba to Attend Grand Prix in Cancun with Eight Athletes

Cuba will attend the Grand Prix of Judo in Cancun, Mexico with 8 fighters, in a competition that has confirmed the presence of 190 athletes from 39 nations up to now, and giving points for the world ranking.

The Cuban judo team to compete at the Benito Juárez Poliforum from June 16 to 18 brings Osniel Solis in the 66 male kilograms, Ivan Silva in the 90 kg, Jose Armenteros (100 kg), Andy Granda (over 100 kg), all of them medalists in the Pan American Championship in Panama City.

The female Cuban representatives will be Anailys Dorvigni (57 kg, 5th place in Panama), Olga Masferrer (70 kg, bronze medal in Panama) and Kaliema Antomarchi (78 kg, silver medal in Panama).

The main athletes among men, will be Garcia, fifth place in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016, and Armenteros, Chelyabinsk 2014 World runner-up.

The 36th edition of the Mexican event distributed 700 points for 14 champions (male and female), and according to the program of the event, Friday 16 will include competitions in 48, 52 and 57 kilos among women, and 60 to 66 for men.

On Saturday 17 there will be activity in the 63 and 70 kg for women and 73 and 81 kg for men.

On Sunday 18, there will be action in the 78 and over 78 kg for females, and the 90, 100 and over 100 kg for men.

This tournament includes competition by judokas from this tournament judokas from Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela and the host, Mexico.
