Cuban Roel Santos signed on Wednesday his contract with the Chiba Lotte Marines baseball team from the Japan Professional Baseball League.
“My goal is to go out there and have fun. I will try to represent Cuba in this country,” commented after signing the document at the Havana’s stadium Latinoamericano.
“I am very happy with the things that are going on in my sports career,” the outfielder added.
“Expectations are greater now. I am now playing for a team that is undoubtedly in other baseball level. I need to be physically and mentally ready,” pointed out the lead-up hitter of our national baseball team in the World Baseball Classic.
“The goal is to continue to play the way I have done it so far, play by play.”
Santos is the sixth Cuban player linked this season to the Japanese professional league.
LHP Livan Moinelo, and infielder Oscar Luis Colas signed with the Softbank Hawks, where slugger Alfredo Despaigne excels.
RHP Raidel Martinez and outfielder Leandro Urgelles play for the Chunichi Dragons.
