Cuba categorically supports the Bolivarian people's project in Venezuela and the lawful government of President Nicolás Maduro, under siege today by a growing hostility, Deputy Yoerky Sánchez told Prensa Latina.
Sanchez participated in the 2nd Parliamentary Meeting for Latin American and Caribbean Integration which took place in the Delia Parodi Hall at the Argentine Congress' Chamber of Representatives.
At the same time, Sánchez rejected the proliferation of military bases in the region, which goes against the the principle agreed during the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Summit in Havana, 2014, to declare the region a peace zone
During the Parliamentary Meeting, attended by representatives of Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panama, Uruguay and Venezuela, legislators evaluated the instability that shakes the region at the moment.
In particular, they discussed the institutional coup in Brazil and the hostility against Venezuela, including the threat of an armed intervention by the United States, according to documents revealed by the US Southern Comand.
Local deputies analyzed the change in foreign policy carried out by the new government, which promotes divisiveness, the return to neoliberalism and the weakening of integrating mechanisms like Mercusur, Unasur and Celac.
