The Cuban province of Holguin hosts today and until the 15th the first edition of the Oral Narration Festival World of Words, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the founding of the company Palabras al viento (Words to the Wind).
Yoyi Sera, director of the Festival, explained at a press conference that the event includes more than 40 presentations in cultural institutions, schools and the Eddy Suñol Theater, with the participation of important defenders of this artistic manifestation, according to the UNEAC website.
We have works for all audiences, because storytelling is a minor art, but turning it into something necessary is complex; stories do not live by the voice that tells them, but by the ear that listens to them, he said.
According to the article, one of the most important moments of World of Words will be the scientific day at the Holguin Technological Center to exchange and debate on various topics such as the assembly of the works.
Among the children’s presentations of the event are announced those of the projects Té Conté, from Havana, and Los cuentos de Lunena, from Mexico, in addition to the performance of Olga Lidia Martínez, Marie Lucie and Lesbia de la Fe.
The inaugural show, entitled Evocación (Evocation), took place at the Raúl Camayd Hall of the Eddy Suñol Theater and featured artists from Holguin Edelis Cabreja, Kelvis Brito, soloists from the Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater and participants from Mexico, Ecuador, Argentina and Uruguay.
The first edition of the Oral Narration Festival Mundo de Palabras has among its objectives to recover this practice as one of the favorite manifestations of the Cuban public, the text concludes.
