Women's Empowerment Program Advances in Santiago de Cuba
Santiago de Cuba, Dec 5 (ACN ) A Cuban government’s women empowerment program reports positive advancement in Eastern Santiago de Cuba, said local authorities.
In statements to ACN, the provincial secretary of the Cuban Women Federation in Santiago, Elena Castillo, said that some 2 thousand young ladies have got their jobs, thanks to joint efforts by the local Labor and Social Security Office and the Center for Guidance of Women and Families.
Castillo also referred to the opening of day-care facilities to favor mothers with children in the province who need to work.
She also addressed the increase in the number of women in management posts and at local government and Communist Party institutions.
In the agricultural field, women are currently occupying management posts in cooperatives while some are farm owners, who are making their efforts to increase food production..
The Cuban government’s Women Empowerment Program was adopted by the Council of Ministers and put into effect in March 2021 by presidential decree as it expresses the political will of the Cuban state to advance policies in favor of genre equality.
