Islamabad, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of a second disaster after deadly floods hit Pakistan, in the form of a new wave of illnesses and deaths, local outlets reported on Sunday.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that he is deeply concerned about the possibility of a second disaster in Pakistan: a wave of illnesses and deaths following this catastrophe, linked to climate change.

He considered that the climatic situation seriously affects vital health systems, leaving millions of people vulnerable.

The water supply is cut off, forcing people to drink non-potable water, WHO director-general said, quoted by the Business Recorder daily.

The WHO also warned that health workers in Pakistan are stretched thin and doing their best to provide critical services amid the destruction. Nearly 2,000 health facilities were totally or partially damaged by the floods.
