Geneva, Jul 6 (Prensa Latina) The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday reported the number of monkeypox cases exceeded 6,000 in 58 countries, being Europe as epicenter of the disease.

Tedros Adhanom, WHO Director-General, expressed deep concern about the spread of the virus, and the most alarming aspect is that there is surely a number of infected people that have not yet been detected or reported.

Adhanom said that Europe continues to be the epicenter of the outbreak by reporting more than 80% of the cases, while making reference to coordination for the distribution of vaccines against the disease, admitting the quantities are scarce.

To date, the clinical situation of monkeypox cases is quite variable. Many cases do not show clinical presentation classically described for monkeypox (fever, swollen lymph nodes, and rash).
