Havana, May 4 (RHC)-- Cuban head of state Miguel Díaz-Canel on Wednesday described as timely and necessary the visit to the island of Venezuela's sectoral vice president for Communication, Culture, and Tourism, Freddy Ñáñez.

According to the Twitter account of the Presidency, the Caribbean leader received at the Palace of the Revolution Ñáñez, who is also minister for Communication and Information of the Bolivarian country.

Ñáñez considered it a great pride to set foot on Cuban soil and talk with Díaz-Canel, the official source reported. He also expressed his gratitude for the island's courage and loyalty to the Latin American project shared by both countries.

Previously, the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, reaffirmed with Ñáñez the bonds of brotherhood, solidarity, and cooperation that unite both nations.

The Venezuelan vice-president offered a master conference on world changes in the ways of communicating at the headquarters of the Higher Institute of International Relations, "Raúl Roa García."

Before an audience of academics, communicators and university students, Ñañez expressed that it is necessary to rethink a theory of communication in a world with a different approach oriented towards the virtual and that responds to the hegemonic interests of those who control these new spaces.

The Venezuelan minister is part of a large delegation of the Venezuelan Committee of International Solidarity and Struggle for Peace, who attended the celebrations for May 1, International Workers' Day in Havana.
