Caracas, August 2 (RHC)-- The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, received the Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator of the United Nations, Martin Griffiths, and spoke about the work agenda he is developing in the nation.
During a meeting held at the Miraflores Palace, the diplomat learned about the social policies implemented by the Bolivarian Government to mitigate the impacts generated by the illegal blockade imposed by the United States.
Likewise, the Venezuelan head of state specified with historical evidence how more than 70 percent of the national budget is allocated to the social area, to offer health, education, food, housing and socio-economic support to the vulnerable sectors of society.
It is worth noting that the schedule of activities that Secretary General Martin Griffiths is carrying out in Caracas seeks to support ongoing efforts to address humanitarian and social needs, as well as to strengthen the provision of basic services.
Accordingly, last Sunday Griffiths met with UN agencies and national and international NGOs to deepen their policies, including the opportunities and challenges they face.
The UN official also met with the sectoral vice presidents of Planning and Social and Territorial Socialism, Ricardo Menéndez and Mervin Maldonado, respectively, with the intention of continuing to strengthen the protection measures of the Bolivarian Government.
