Venezuela denounces provocation by US-Guyana military exercises
Rodriguez assured that those actions promoted by the Trump administration in his last days are intended to create provocations, threats and aggressions against the Venezuelan people, in addition to interfering in the territorial controversy for the region of Guayana Esequiba.
In that sense, the leader recalled the repeated protests against the operations in that territorial strip of the oil Exxon Mobil company, allowed by Georgetown in a unilateral manner and in clear violation of the international treaties approved to settle the border dispute.
Rodriguez dismissed Guyana's position of going to the International Court of Justice as a way to resolve the dispute, far from showing willingness to dialogue and seek negotiation mechanisms; 'Venezuela never gave its consent to violate the Geneva Agreement of 1966,' she asserted.
She also mentioned the sending to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres of a communication to warn of the risks to peace and regional stability.
