Caracas, Oct 15 (Prensa Latina) The Directorate of the National Electoral Council (CNE) on Thursday approved a reform to the Rule of the Organic Law of Electoral Processes (LOPRE) in which it demands the presence of impartial observers who respect national sovereignty. The modification replaces the terminology used so far regarding national and international observers, whose presence will be conditioned by a stance of impartiality and non-interference, as well as the tacit recognition of electoral and Venezuelan authorities.
The CNE, in its condition of impartial arbiter, promotes the participation in terms of equity and respect for pluralism, with maximum guarantees of transparency and reliability in the face of the renovation of authorities of the Venezuelan Parliament, the press release noted.
It underlined that this reform is based on the experience accumulated by the electoral body and the very regulation in force.
