Montevideo, Oct 19 (Prensa Latina) The legislative bench of Uruguay's Frente Amplio (Broad Front) today focused its work on the drop in household income and the increase in prices of basic products.

In this respect, they will promote different proposals to face the economic and social crisis the country is going through as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic and its negative impact on employment.

Senator Lilan Kechichian, when presenting the main objectives ahead to the press, said that this health situation will leave on the table a set of 'wounds' to heal.

Congresswoman Ana Olivera remarked that the legislators of the Frente Amplista party are not dedicated to 'putting sticks in the wheel' and an example of this are the more than 30 bills they presented in the current period.

Olivera added the follow-up of the situation of the port of Montevideo, after the government decision to extend for 50 more years the monopoly of the container terminal to the multinational Katoen Natie.

At the same time Daniel Caggiani said that the Front-Amplista benches have a special interest in working throughout the country and in the neighborhoods of Montevideo to be able to remove 135 articles of the Law of Urgent Consideration by means of a referendum.
