United States abused its UN host nation status, Lavrov says

The United States abused its status as the host nation of UN headquarters, while visas were not issued to some members of the Russian delegation that will participate in the Security Council sessions, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday.

The diplomat reiterated that US authorities took a long time to issue visas and then bypassed some members of the Russian delegation, Sputnik reported.

Lavrov stressed that US authorities gave no explanation and promised Russian journalists, who also remain without visas, that Moscow would seek its concession for them.

UN Security Council sessions, which will be held in New York in late April, as part of the activities organized by Russia within the framework of its presidency.
