United Nations guarantees support for elections in Bolivia

La Paz, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) The United Nations representation in Bolivia on Friday guaranteed its political, diplomatic, financial and technical support for the elections scheduled for October 18 in this South American country.
The UN said on its website that it will also certify compliance with the health measures against the Covid-19 pandemic in order to prevent a new postponement of the general elections.
In that regard, Jean Arnault, the personal envoy of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for Bolivia, expressed his commitment to boost citizens' participation, and national and foreign observers during the elections.
He noted that agreeing on a date for the elections, after several postponements, grants guarantees and contributes to overcoming political divisions and uncertainty.
The general elections will take place on October 18 in Bolivia, after several postponements and protests.
