Facing the imminent impact of Hurricane Melissa on the country's eastern provinces, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has secured essential resources intended to support early response and recovery efforts in areas that could be affected.
According to a post on its official Facebook profile, the available supplies include four thousand tarps for temporary roof coverage, seven electrical generators, six chainsaws, 259 kits of specialized and basic tools for roof repair, as well as two thousand single-person mattresses.
The post clarifies that these actions are complemented by an analysis of existing resources in the territory and the mobilization of new ones, with the aim of guaranteeing a timely and effective response to potential housing damage.
According to the source, the initiative is supported by the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and is part of the United Nations System's response plan in Cuba, coordinated with national and local authorities.
