The government in Kiev will no longer be able to substantially change the situation on the battlefield, the head of the Operational Directorate of the General Staff of Russia, Colonel General Sergei Rudskoy, said.
“Last year was crucial for achieving the objectives of the special military operation. The enemy lost the ability to manufacture the necessary weapons and ammunition,” Rudskoy said on Thursday in an interview with Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper .
The General also reported that in 2024 alone, the number of Ukrainian military casualties reached 590.000 people between dead and wounded, and exceeded one million since the beginning of the special military operation.
In addition, Rudskoy noted that the Russian military has captured about 75 percent of the territory of the Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of the People’s Republic, and less than one percent remains to be taken in the Luhansk People’s Republic.
In total, by 2024, Russian troops have taken control of 4,500 square kilometers of enemy-occupied territory, and over the course of two months this year – 600 more square kilometers.
