The Government of Japan acknowledged that the ban by US President Donald Trump on Harvard University to enroll foreign students affects a large number of Japanese students.

Nearly 300 of the seven thousand international students at that institution of higher education, one of the most prestigious in the United States, are Japanese.

This was acknowledged by the spokesman of the Japanese Executive, Yoshimasa Hayashi, who studied a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the same university.

The official assured that the government will work to curb the effects of the ban and will take the necessary measures.

The Trump administration revoked the day before the authority of Harvard University to enroll international students in that academic center, as part of a strong escalation against the entity.

“Harvard can no longer enroll foreign students and existing foreign students must transfer or lose their legal status,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement.

Meanwhile, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem ordered an end to the certification of Harvard’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program.
