Bogota, April 19 (RHC)-- The Caribbean House of Solidarity with Cuba Agustin Contreras of Barranquilla, Colombia highlighted the validity of the thought of Cuba's Apostle Jose Marti, from the perspective of culture.

During a ceremony held the day before, the participants reviewed the biography of the Cuban National Hero, highlighted his imprint in literature and praised his political thought. In the ceremony called Thinking Marti from the cultural point of view, those present dedicated poems to the author of the Versos Sencillos, the Golden Age, and to the founder of the Cuban Revolutionary Party.

They remembered Vilma Espín and Haydée Santamaría, two outstanding Cuban women who devoted themselves to consolidate the changes from the participation of women in the different tasks and in the conquest of their rights, and from the culture and Latin American unity, from the different fronts that each one occupied within the Revolution.

The members of Casa Caribe stated that it is necessary to be in solidarity with Cuba for all its contributions to humanity in areas such as health, education, sports and culture. In this regard, they highlighted the role played by Martí's homeland in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in the world.

Participants recalled the sending of medical brigades to more than 40 nations to help solve the serious health emergency, including European countries such as Italy. Also, in the midst of this scenario and with the limitations imposed by the economic, financial and commercial blockade, Cuba developed several vaccines of its own with which it immunized its population, including children, against the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, among them Abdala, Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus.
