Damascus, Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) Hama province's Directorate of Water Resources reported on Monday the reconstruction of the main irrigation canal to benefit 7,000 hectares of agricultural land in the south of that central region in Syria.

Fady Abbas, in charge of that entity, said that such road provides water to large areas from the city of Rastan, located in the north of the neighboring province of Homs, to the south of Hama.

Terrorist attacks caused serious damage to the canal system and after being displaced from the area, the Syrian authorities resumed the rehabilitation phase.

The canal starts from Lake Qattineh, in Homs to Hama along 47 kilometers and will also benefit 11,000 hectares in Homs and in total about thirty villages and towns in the two regions.
